The Creative Industries in the UK has shown itself to be diverse, vibrant, expanding and a net contributor to the UK economy. With this dynamic picture in mind, Bournemouth University's Media School is launching a Professional Doctorate for the Creative Industries. The academic standing of the qualification is equivalent to that of a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and provides a qualification of intrinsic value and status leading to the title 'Doctor'. The programme will enable practitioners in the Creative Industries to integrate theory and practice and is designed to enhance skills, competency, personal growth and achievement. The programme aims to enable working professionals to investigate real issues and situations that they are experiencing or having to address as part of their job and to create new knowledge to a level which extends the forefront of their professional practice. A 'blended learning' model consisting of cohort based residential workshops at our state of the art Executive Business Centre, and online learning and support will enable professionals to travel from local, national and international locations. This is the first programme of its kind in the UK and will start in October 2010. For further details, please contact Dr John Oliver at The Media School, Bournemouth University.
