The  Innovation Convention 2011 is over. The project CCC attended the European Innovation Convention, which was held in Brussels on 05 - 06 December 2011. The event was opened by European Commission President José-Manuel Barroso and discussed the elementsneeded to promote research, innovation and creativity in Europe.

As part of the partner’s meeting in Bremen, the CCC project hosted an expert meeting on the relations between creative industries and knowledge institutions.

A brief introduction on the basis of a discussion paper gave rise to an inspiring discussion. The experts, Mrs Yvonne Reinhardt from Copenhagen Business School and Prof. Detlef Rahe from the University of Applied Arts in Bremen, discussed with the project partners how cooperation between creative industries and knowledge institutions may be encouraged. Prof. Wil Zonneveld from Delft University of Technology chaired the meeting.

Bremen and Groningen had a great afternoon at the Reeperbahn Festival. Promoting CCC with a Reception and 2 showcases at Glanz & Gloria Club: Eisenhower from Groningen and kleinstadthelden from Bremen rocked the house!

HAW Hamburg recently launched the study "Business Improvement Districts: an instrument to foster creative industries? Experiences and lessons learned from Hamburg" which describes some Hamburg specific tools and instruments in order to enhance the development of the creative sector in the City.

The new Creative City Challenge Newsletter (4th Edition) has been produced and can be downloaded as PDF file in the newsletter section.

The Creative Boost Summer School has been developed by Dundee College as part of its involvement in the Interreg funded Creative City Challenge project. The key aims of this project are to identify, develop and test a range of strategies to develop the urban economies in the North Sea Region and focuses on the role of the creative industries in building and strengthening this development.

Last year an international panel of experts granted the BEST COLLABORATION AWARD for the first time. The first BCA 20110 was designed to reward the best example of collaboration between partners from the creative industries sector and another from a more traditional industry focussing on innovative practices beyond traditional business relationships as well as alliances with exceptional results.

CCC has released an new discussion paper issuing the impact of sustainable innovation and sustainable urban development on the performance of creative industries. The authors are Arie Romein & Jan Jacob Trip  from the Delft University of Technology.

The North Sea Region Connect (NSR-Connect) is a linking and business information and cooperation network which is established to bring together services, products and technologies of the creative industries from the North Sea Region

Applicants will be drawn from the fields of product or communication design (various majors possible) as well as from architecture and interior design. The Call for applications is aimed at designers who have obtained degrees within the last 12 months. The scholarship begins on 1st June 2011 and runs for six months. It is endowed with € 1000 per month. The closing date for applications is 15 April 2011.
