Four Artists from the partner regions of the North Sea area (Netherlands/Belgium/England/Scotland/Sweden/Denmark) can live and work for 1,5 months in the area around the Oldenburg central station. The area around the Oldenburg central station is a district which is currently in change, a redevelopment area with the ambition to become an urban and creative district of Oldenburg. The district of the Oldenburg central station as well as its residents, history and perspectives are supposed to be part of the artist’s work. We want to connect the working artists with the daily routine of the cultural initiatives, the residents of the district and interested parties from all over the city. The topic “creative district” offers the first step to the planned production of the project. The second step is to show the outcome of the work in an unconventional way “an art-odyssey through the area of the Oldenburg central station” like an exhibition event where the visitors are involved. Therefore the result of the artist in residence project is not a traditional exhibition in a closed room, but the outcomes will be shown at unusual places all over the district. A partial artificial urbanity developed through the project, a “temporary art world” which can be explored in a special and unusual way.
