| Symposium on Temporary Use of Space |
|
23 June 2010, Groningen, Netherlands Central idea of the symposium is that temporary uses could be a new strategy in urban planning, especially in this time of economic crisis. Key-note speaker Klaus Overmeyer (Studio UC / Klaus Overmeyer, Berlin) will give his vision on this idea. Overmeyer was involved in the European project 'Urban Catalyst' and his studio was responsible for the recent Hamburg policy vision on creativity called 'Kreative milieus und offene raume in Hamburg'. The second speaker will be Ronald Rietveld (Rietveld Landscape, Amsterdam), who will introduce the interesting project Free Port Amsterdam. After the two presentations a panel discussion will be held on the do's and dont's of temporary uses with Gijs van Oenen (philosopher), Paul van Bussel (architect), Tjerk Ruimschotel (supervisor Gemeente Groningen) and Klaus Overmeyer. Of course during the day we will also inform you about the Groningen project 'Open Lab Ebbinge'. Please let us know if you would like to participate. For details contact Jeroen Berends:
